In these long journeys of wandering and following traces, I increasingly perceive images born under the radiance of one of the 10 to the 24th power of stars, alive with the life of living language. Different materials are linked to one another in a condensed configuration. Living forms seem to emerge from among metal, glass, clay, and mineral, presenting an entirely new geomorphic–ecological landscape. These works testify to the diversity of material genealogies and point toward a “conception of life beyond biological lineages.” From this understanding, materials such as clay, water, and minerals—commonly categorised by humans as “inorganic”—can be seen as possessing, under certain conditions, the potential to transform into particular life-forms or life-experiences, and thus to be included within a broader genealogy of life. I refer to this generative, mutational, and transformative quality as vitality.
