The "Water Substance" series is a collaborative experiment of bio-sculpture, which continues my understanding of the "Crystalline Layer." It is an observation of the intertwining, embracing, and reconfiguration of biology and the environment. The metaphor of water is initially presented through staining tests on the substrate. Subsequently, it was born through the sculptural forms: crystallization of clouds, contours of the land, and the morphologies of organisms, as well as the flow of consciousness.
Like the separation and gathering, the drying and moistening of water, slime molds constantly encounter or bid farewell to themselves amidst changes. Information is transmitted freely through the cytoplasmic streaming, allowing slime molds to replace the rhetoric of death and rebirth with dormancy and awakening in this freer-to-come-and-go shuttle. And in the dispersion and reunion of life, accept all the never-met or long-awaited with equanimity. Yet, it is precisely the traces of life that have emerged within these fluctuations that have converged to shape the current landscape of water-substance sculptures.
Connecting the narrative and imagination spanning from the Proterozoic to the present, slime molds carry this leapfrog, showing their comprehension of the assembled and dispersed material cycling across timespan. From vegetation to earth-vein-like fractals, slime molds flow airily and magnificently, like water, through the encounters between environments. What will you read from it?
